I don't use the dock so that is not an issue for me.
The case is a great fit on it and looks great too.
Hardcase for iPod Classic 120GB (Black)
I went out and bought this case the day after I got my Classic and it fits like a dream, looks great and has total access to all functions..
But!
I hate having to take the iPod out of this case everytime I want to dock it with my iPod Dock!
I therefore went on to buy another case which promised it's own universal docking insert, the best of both worlds.
This case turned out to be aesthetically unappealing, easy to scratch and just as prone to fingerprints as the iPod itself, though the docking insert worked perfectly..
I wish all makers of cases would take this issue into account..
If one company can manage to create universal dock inserts for it's cases, albeit with an inferior case, then it should be a must for others and would only enhance the whole iPod experience, especially for those of us who don't want to keep removing the iPod from it's case everytime we want to play it through our Hi-Fis.
Some serious pestering is in order.
I've gone back to using my Incase Case because it does the protection job so well and looks great.
But, given the chance I'd jump at a universal dock insert and, if another company came up with a case which I liked and did provide a dock insert for it, I'd be tempted to stray again!
