incase hardshell

I just ordered the red incse hardshell case. I haven't recieved it yet but I am very excited. I have heard many reviews about the screen angle but, however, I watched a video and it showed the screen angle with the case on. I didn't think it was that bad, myself.
My friend has the new unibody macbook and she got the speck case for it. I really liked the rubbery feel of hers. When I looked it up for the white macbook, they didn't have the rubbery feel case, only a plasticy one. I was about to get it but then I realized that there is really no point since that would just get scratched anyways.
I can't wait!
Cool design, but a few drawbacks
POSTED ON 1.28.09 • BY Marissa Barrow
I got this for my laptop about a month ago. I think it's a great design and it is a useful design, too. The texture is easy to grab, the rubber feet really stick when you need them to keep your laptop from sliding around, and the ports are pretty much accessible.
There are two drawbacks: The screen angle is limited, and the tabs holding the case on can break off pretty easily. Just after two weeks of having the case on, I noticed the bottom left (with screen up) corner of my screen's case component was loose. And about three days later, both left-side tabs were broken. One completely off, and the other mostly gone.
The bottom component stays on great, and I haven't had a problem with it, and the screen tilt hasn't really bothered me. It's not limited nearly as bad as it is by a Speck case.
another complaint about the side ports

I will second the complaint already posed about the size of the holes for the ports. I, too, am unable to use a lock with this. I have tried several, but the problem is that the locks don't engage deep enough to go the additional 1/16" that the case adds to the shell. This is a serious design flaw of the case and essentially makes the security lock feature of the MacBook useless. I could drill out a larger hole in the case, but I'd rather see Incase redesign this to have a larger opening for the lock and a slightly larger opening for the mag-power connection.
Another Complaint.

Most reviews I have read say that the case doesn't interfere with screen flexibility. However, the screen is practically limited to just past 90 degrees. This is fine if you only use it at your desk or at a table but if your using it in your lap you may have a difficult time.
Just what I needed!

After reading many reviews, I was concerned with the hardshell limiting the angle to which the screen could be opened. However, I have found that as long as the bottom portion is installed correctly (there is a small lip in the back that MUST be seated properly), I can open it almost as far as without the case. Aside from the screen angle issue, this case is perfect. The texture resists fingerprints and feels cool. I like that the Apple icon still shows through when illuminated. The vents on the bottom really help to dispel heat, keeping my Macbook from overheating as well as keeping the surface it rests on cooler. Removing the case was a bit trickier - not impossible - but as long as you don\'t need to remove it on a regular basis, this doesn\'t really pose a problem. All in all, this case is just what this busy college student needed to reduce stress about carrying an expensive laptop to school!
One complaint.

I am rather satisfied with this product. I purchased this case for my white macbook to protect it from scratches. I enjoy the transparency and grip the case provides. I am dissatisfied with the minimal tolerances to access ports on the left side of the machine. The power doesn't find the magnet as easy (causing a little more concentration). However this is not a big deal. The biggest concern is the inability to use a computer lock with the case on. I have two separate locks that I had used previously that I can no longer use because the lock cannot engage. Security is of concern because I work in an open studio in college.... laptops can walk off. I don't want to have to go out and buy, yet another computer lock.
One more note, this case stays on. I noticed a friend that purchased an off-brand case and it was falling off. I will also applaud incase's design, especially the level of detail on the back side. I just remember one more thing that this case affects: the tilt of the screen. I can't tilt the screen back as far as I used to. Again, I will say that there is give and take with adding an accessory and I'd rather have my machine protected.
Like it, but don't like the only colour available

This look like a great product but red is just not my thing. Bring on the same colour choice as the pro range and you've got my money.
100% satisfied

I got this case when I first bought my blackbook, and the protection has saved it from a 5 foot fall. My Macbook is as good as when I first bought it, and it doesn't overheat. The case also gives you more grip because of its texture, and is very resistant to scratches. It is perfect for anyone who wants good protection without sacrificing accessibility or style. I can access even my battery power meter on the bottom. This case is much better than my girlfriends Speck clear case, which is much more prone to scratches and fingerprints, and gives less accessibility. Great.
